My second trial. My undefeated record remained intact (it would go down in flames in trial number three). Defendant raised a “phantom car” defense, blaming a ghost car for the accident. It didn’t work. I still feel good about this one.
Jury finds defendant negligent, awards all medical.
I’ll never forget this case because it was my first jury trial. Your first trial, you’re hoping you’ll just get to the end without the judge having to call a stop to all proceedings and demand that you turn in your bar card. I remember introducing the photographs into evidence and publishing them for the jury. The gravity with which I did this would have made you think the photos showed mangled hunks of metallic wreckage, instead of the single egg sized dent on my client’s driver’s side door.
The jury awarded all my client’s medical bills, despite the lack of significant property damage.
